Why Da Nang is Vietnam's pickleball city
Da Nang has gone from a handful of courts to a genuine pickleball hub in barely two years. It's not hype: the city was chosen to host the Pickleball World Cup 2026, and the Vietnam Cup held here in 2025 drew nearly 600 players and thousands of spectators. For a visitor, that means one thing — courts, coaching, paddle rental and open-play sessions are everywhere, and the standard is high. Pair that with a beach city that's easy to get around, and it's the natural base for a play-and-stay trip.
Where to play in Da Nang
There are dozens of courts now, from casual neighbourhood setups to full clubs. A few that visitors mention again and again:

What it costs, and do you need a paddle?
Good news on both counts. A session typically runs $4–10 — a fraction of what you'd pay at home. And you don't need to bring a paddle: most clubs rent paddles and balls at the front desk for a small fee, so you can travel light. On our trips, paddles are sorted for you either way.
How to get a game as a visitor
The Da Nang scene is famously welcoming, and it's easy to join in:
- Open-play sessions — most clubs run drop-in sessions grouped by level, so you're matched with players around your standard.
- Facebook groups — search "Pickleball Da Nang" or "Expats in Da Nang"; players post meetups and are happy to include visitors.
- Booking apps — local apps list courts, open sessions and groups by level.
- Just turn up — go to a busy court early morning or evening, ask, and you'll usually get waved into a game.
When to play
Two rules. First, the time of day: it gets hot, so locals play 6–9am and again in the evening — the coolest, best hours, and the busiest for open play. Second, the time of year: Da Nang's central-coast weather is best February to August, while September to December brings the rainy season, so indoor and covered courts are your friend late in the year.
