Pickleball in Hoi An: where to play as a visitor

Updated October 2026 · 8 min read

Most people come to Hoi An for the lanterns, the tailors and the food. Fewer know you can play pickleball here most mornings. There are covered clubs a short ride from the old town, resort courts on the beaches, and Da Nang's huge scene half an hour up the road. Here's where I'd send a friend, what an hour costs, and how to get a game.

The short version

Where: three covered clubs in town (The Club House, Hot Kitchen, Poon Poon), plus resort courts at Hoiana, the Nam Hai and Silk Sense.

Cost: about 140,000 to 200,000 VND per court per hour in town (US$6 to US$8), shared between four players.

When: 5:30 to 8am or after 5pm. Pick a covered court from September to December.

Bigger scene: Da Nang is 30 to 45 minutes away, with dozens more courts.

Is Hoi An good for pickleball?

Good, not huge. Da Nang is Vietnam's pickleball city, with dozens of clubs, a World Cup behind it and open play every evening. Hoi An is a small town, and its scene is small too. But what's here is well run, mostly covered, and full of a friendly mix of locals, expats and travellers who've had the same idea as you.

What Hoi An has that Da Nang doesn't is the rest of the day. You play at six, you're eating cao lau by nine, and you spend the evening by the river under the lanterns. If you're deciding where to base yourself, our Hoi An or Da Nang guide compares the two properly.

Where to play in Hoi An

Prices are per court, per hour, as the clubs published them in late 2024 and early 2025. New courts open often in this part of Vietnam and prices move, so message the club before you go.

The Club House

This is the one I know. The Club House Pickleball Hoi An sits on Ba Trieu Street, an easy ride from the old town, under a big blue roof that keeps off both the sun and the rain. Paddles and balls come with the court, and the rates are a little higher in the evening and at weekends: about 150,000 VND an hour on weekday mornings, up to 200,000 VND on weekend evenings. Book ahead for the early and late slots, which go first. The number is on its Google Maps listing.

Hot Kitchen Pickleball

Three covered courts on Ly Thai To, a little further from the centre, with one all-in price of around 150,000 VND an hour. It's open from 5am, and the regulars are used to mixing with whoever turns up, so it's a good bet if you're on your own.

Poon Poon Pickleball

Covered courts on Nguyen Duy Hien, about 140,000 VND an hour until 4pm and 190,000 VND after, with paddles to rent for around 20,000 VND. One warning from people who've been: Google Maps has put the pin on the wrong side of the river before, so check the address with your driver, or you'll find yourself looking for a bridge.

Hoiana Resort & Golf

Hoiana: eight courts by the beach, half of them indoors

The biggest setup near Hoi An: eight courts, four indoor and four outdoor, open 7am to 8pm, with coaching on Thursday to Saturday mornings. Guests play free. Non-guests can book a court for about 250,000 VND an hour. The catch is distance. Hoiana is a self-contained resort on a quiet beach about half an hour south of the old town, so it's worth a special trip rather than a quick morning hit. Our guide to resorts with pickleball courts covers it in more detail.

Four Seasons The Nam Hai

The Nam Hai's courts are for resort guests only

Two courts next to the tennis courts, free for guests and closed to everyone else. You can book a coach through the resort's tennis academy. With only two courts and no outside players, bring your own four.

Silk Sense and La Queenara

Silk Sense, a riverside hotel near An Bang, has a covered court that guests can use for free, but only from 10am to noon and 2 to 3pm, right in the heat of the day. It's fine for a gentle hit with your partner. On the road towards Ha My, the La Queenara community courts are outdoor courts with no roof, busy in the early evening. They're worth knowing about if you're staying on that stretch of beach.

What it costs

Very little. Courts in Vietnam are rented per court, not per person, so 150,000 VND an hour split between four players is less than US$2 each. Even the evening and weekend rates in town stay under US$8 for the whole court. Most clubs either include paddles or rent them for a dollar or so, so you don't need to fly with yours. If you'd like a lesson, our guide to pickleball lessons in Vietnam covers what coaching costs and how to book it.

How to get a game as a visitor

In Hoi An, the court is often the only place you'll meet the people who actually live here. A morning game turns into coffee, and coffee turns into a tip for the best banh mi in town.

When to play

Play early or late. From May to August it's hot by 8am, so locals play from about 5:30 and come back after 5pm. From September to December it's the rainy season in central Vietnam, and Hoi An's riverside streets can flood for a few days at a time, usually in October and November. That's when the covered clubs earn their roof. Our guide to playing in the heat has more on staying comfortable, and the best time to visit Vietnam covers the seasons.

Stay in Hoi An, play in Da Nang too

The two towns are about 30 km apart, 35 to 50 minutes by car. Plenty of players stay in Hoi An for the evenings and drive up to Da Nang once or twice for a bigger session at one of its clubs. Our guide to where to play pickleball in Da Nang lists the best of them.

Flying in? Da Nang airport is the airport for Hoi An too. Here's how the Da Nang Airport to Hoi An transfer works, and what an app ride costs if you'd rather book your own.
